There's no doubt that the introduction of flashy basketball pros to the American Olympic efforts has helped raise the profile of the sport on a global level. Nowhere is this more obvious than in the former Soviet Union. Their teams are ranked among the best in the world and (more importantly) their cheerleaders among the hottest.
