“Gonzaga sponsors several races for charity, like the Bulldog Run, and encourages students to participate in Hoopfest, the largest 3-on-3 basketball tournament in the world. Intramural sports are extremely popular. To put things into perspective: We only have about 4,000 students, but this year’s intramural basketball tournament drew about 1,200 student players. Fitness is a part of my daily life, so it doesn’t seem like a balancing act. Parties happen. Drinking happens (a lot). But staying in shape happens, as well, and it’s almost as fun. Almost.” —Greg Yandl, TK class
Reader Comments:
"When I got to college there was a lot of pressure to drink and party. Drinking 25 beers, eating a large pizza, and watching football all day became my excercise regiment. I quickly put on the Freshman 25-30 and became completely miserable with my health. Gonzaga offered numerous wellness programs that helped get my life back on track. I lost the weight and have never felt better. Intramural sports, a new gym, and helpful fitness trainers were keys to my success. It doesn't hurt to have a kick-ass women's basketball team to route for everyday. Go Zags!" -Chad Patterson '04
