Training to Failure

Q: Is it safe to train to failure?

A: Yes, as long as your training volume is low. When using a large number of sets, you can't take each of them to failure without overtraining and risking serious injury. Limit your sets to 12 or fewer per workout, and you can give your all on every one of them without worrying about frying your central nervous system.

Note: Going to failure means when you can no longer complete another rep with good form. Grind out one last slow, brutal rep with all the effort you can muster, then end it. Do not go to the point where you have to stop in the middle of a rep or break form to get it done.
