Kelly Slater's Beach Style
The guy who's won more than 40 top surf titles reveals how to show off your bod on the beach
You'd think this gold medal X-gamer would have board shorts for every day of the year. "Even though I have a line with Quiksilver, I own maybe three pairs," he says. You should be safe with two. Stick to basic colors—they're slimming—with a cut that stops just above the knee.
"Some sunscreens have carcinogenic ingredients," says Slater. "Look for natural ones such as Mercola instead. If you're putting it on, you might as well put one on that's good for you."
A SAND-FREE SCALP
Sprinkle a bit of baby powder on the tips of your fingers and rub it into your scalp. The powder absorbs the moisture, so the sand brushes away easily. Slater takes another route: "I just shave my head once a week," he says.
