BlogsDennis Rodman Elected to NBA Hall of Fame.
As controversial as any player to ever take the court in the NBA, the eccentric Dennis Rodman shocked many basketball purists—and himself—when he was elected to the NBA Hall of Fame today.
An unapologetically arrogant and unpredictable personality, Rodman is best remembered by most for the things he did off the court. Take for example the Razzie-award winning action flick "Double Team" he made with Jean-Claude Van Damme or his 1999 wrestling match with "Macho Man" Randy Savage — and those were the least embarrassing of his entertainment pursuits.
But "The Worm's" purple hair and lip piercings often overshadowed a professional game that was pure defensive dominance. A two-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year, the big man was a key part of five championship squads. And let's not overlook the fact that he led the league in rebounds for an unbelievable seven straight seasons. Was there a better rebounding forward in NBA history? Probably not.
So forget about the time he wore a wedding dress in public and join us in congratulating Dennis Rodman on this career milestone.
And for those wondering, some of the standouts joining Rodman in the class of 2011 include former "Dream Team" member Chris Mullin and ABA legend Artis Gilmore.
