10 Death-Defying Stunts You Can Do on Vacation

Volcano Boarding; Leon, Nicaragua

You thought snowboarding or wakeboarding was a good time? Try volcano boarding. You’ll wear a protective jumpsuit (which, let’s be honest, doesn't “protect” you much), grab a board, and ride down Nicaragua's 2,380-foot Cerro Negro, a live cinder cone volcano that erupted as recently as 1999. You can descend snowboard-style or, if that’s too much, ride it like a sled. Either way, you’re almost guaranteed to flip and get a rough volcano rash in the process...but it’s worth the views from the summit.

YOU NEED Enough cojones to simply to get down (one way or another).

HOW TO DO IT Book with Quetzal Trekkers. It will provide equipment and a preliminary informative hike to the volcano’s summit. Quetzal Trekkers also lets you take two runs down the mountain, so you get more bang for your buck. ($30; quetzaltrekkers.com)
