10 TV Shows to Watch in 2014

What you need to catch—or catch up on—in the new year.

The Walking Dead

The Governor is finally gone, the prison is no longer a home, and the bus left some people behind in a moment of panic. What will happen when TWD returns from its mid-season hiatus? Tune in on February 9th to find out.

Also returning on January 7th is the fifth season of Justified on FX. Forbes recently called it the best cop show since The Wire. This season, Deputy U.S. Marshal Raylan Givens goes up against the Crowes, a Florida-based crime family that’s bound to start up some trouble. Plus, Amy Smart guest stars.

True Detective

HBO is at it again, releasing this bound-to-be-a-hit show, which premiers January 12th. True Detective stars big names like Woody Harrelson, Matthew McConaughey, and Michelle Monaghan, among others, and follows them as they work on a case that spans 10 years. At least that’s what this season is about. Next season, expect different characters and a different storyline.
