For Dwayne Johnson, the hardest-working man in Hollywood, 2018 is already shaping up to look a lot like 2017—which is to say: busy.

The Rock is following up a stacked 2017 slate—starring in The Fate of the Furious, Baywatch, and Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle—with some major action flicks. Besides the giant-monster-adventure film Rampage, he's also set to star in Skyscraper, a Towering Inferno-style movie, in which Johnson’s character, a former FBI Hostage Rescue Team leader, must save his family from the burning building.

Johnson’s been hard at work filming Rampage, which reunites him with director Brad Peyton for the third time after working on Journey 2: The Mysterious Island and San Andreas. Johnson didn't take off for the long holiday weekend, either—he and his Rampage crew were hard at work on "Independence Eve."

In Rampage, Johnson and castmates Naomie Harris, April 2016 Men’s Fitness cover star Joe Manganiello, and Jeffrey Dean Morgan, will be battling huge, mutated monsters wreaking havoc across America. Naturally, this being a big-budget blockbuster, Johnson’s primatologist character will be essential to stopping the monsters.

Rampage, which hits theaters on April 20, 2018, may also finally have the chance to break the so-called “video game curse” of movie adaptations.

Since the arcade game doesn’t have a huge mythology to pack in like an Assassin's Creed or Warcraft, the filmmakers can take the best parts of the game—massive monsters, major city destruction—and create their own story and characters around it. Big explosions, big guns, and The Rock should be enough to make this a pretty damn fun action flick.

Here are 13 posts that show why Rampage will be the most badass and fun action flick of 2018.
