Even at 45 years old, Kollywood (a.k.a. Tamil cinema) actor Ajith Kumar had no problem taking on the challenge of getting shredded.

For his role as a police official and/or spy in his upcoming movie Vivegam, Kumar took on an intense training regimen, stacking on muscle to attain impressive pecs, much bigger biceps, and a surprisingly cut set of abs. The transformation is similar to what actor Aamir Khan did for his film Dangal, with Khan going from 38% body fat to a lean 9% in just five months. (And for the record: Khan insisted he made his transformation naturally, without any substances.)

Sivakumar Jayakumar (a.k.a. Siva), director of Vivegam who previously worked with Kumar on movies Veeram and Vedhalam, paired Kumar with a personal trainer to help him get into fantastic shape. Kumar's trainer shared a post on Facebook, talking about how honored he was to work with Kumar, while Siva gave everyone a look at Kumar’s transformation on the official poster for the movie:

The film is expected to have plenty of action, with Siva saying that he hopes it will be similar to a “James Bond” film. “After Vedhalam, the expectation of the audience from our team is really high,” Siva told Indian Express. “And we are trying to live up to it. Thala 57 [another name for Vivegam] is a different premise. It will be stylish like a James Bond film.”

Shah Rukh Khan, who has gone through some body transformations himself, was likewise impressed with Kumar's work:

Actor Vivek Anand Oberoi, who plays the villain in the film, also had a message for Kumar:

Vivegam, directed by Siva and starring Kumar, will be released on June 22, 2017.
