Ben Affleck Wants You to Know He Loved 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice'

The actor teases his upcoming Batman solo film and gets ready to team up with Henry Cavill, Jason Momoa, and Gal Gadot.

Bat-fleck isn’t rattled by some mediocre movie reviews.

That's right: Bruce Wayne himself loved Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice. Despite the tough critical reviews, Affleck said he “loved” the film and that he was encouraged by the positive feedback from fans about the first onscreen battle between Superman (former Men’s Fitness cover star Henry Cavill) and Affleck's Batman.

"I loved it," Affleck during press junkets for his new action thriller, The Accountant. "It's the biggest hit of my career and had a lot of editorial negativity.... Fans went, and I got a lot of positive response. It was interesting, that movie, because it was judged not necessarily on execution so much as its tone."

The film ended up a massive box-office winner despite less-than-stellar reviews, making nearly $875 million worldwide. Affleck and DC Entertainment have pressed forward with Justice League, which is looking like a lighter, more fun take on the superhero genre compared to Dawn of Justice. The trailer showed off some humor and great chemistry from Batman (Affleck), Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), and Aquaman (Jason Momoa), although Cavill’s Superman was absent from the first look.

Even though Cavill’s role in Justice League is still unclear, one thing's for sure: He's been getting jacked for it, at least according to the Superman workout he detailed for Men’s Fitness.

But Cavill isn’t the only one adding slabs of muscle for the superhero flick. Momoa shared some pictures revealing his impressive physique for the film, including some massive arms, a defined chest, and a rock-hard eight-pack:

Ray Fisher, who is starring as Cyborg in the film, is likewise pushing himself to the limits to get his body in top form to play the half-man, half-robot hero.

And Affleck, of course, got himself in terrific shape to play Batman—his trainer detailed the workout he did to pump up his back muscles—and he's now preparing to direct the solo outing for the hero. Affleck spoke about the upcoming film, saying that it will “probably” be called The Batman.

One thing we do know for sure: Affleck is going to have to stay in top shape to play Batman, because he’ll be facing off against another jacked dude in former Men’s Fitness cover star Joe Manganiello, who will portray the deadly assassin Deathstroke in the movie.

So yeah, there’s a lot going on in the DC Entertainment universe these days—and everyone is in damn good shape because of it.
