When it comes to using the bathroom, it seems that everyone has different, uh, needs. Some guys dash off to the urinal every 10 minutes, while other dudes seem to hold in all that water like camels.
Which brings up the question: How many times should you really be peeing a day?
According to Neil Grafstein, M.D., a professor of urology at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York who spoke with CNN, the average person takes about 4–7 bathroom breaks a day.
Of course, that number depends on a few factors. Coffee, for example, is a bladder irritant, which compels you to pee more frequently, Grafstein says. So is alcohol, which explains why you seem to hit up the bathroom at the bar all the time after you "break the seal."
The good news: It is possible to train your bladder to hold it longer simply by resisting the urge to pee when it calls. Don't hold it for too long, though, because you could risk getting a bladder infection.
