Think you’ve got it rough at work? Uh, well, not compared to these guys, you don’t. Try working 30 hours straight. Scraping apart your frozen eyelids. Burning through 5,000 calories a day just to stay alive and still losing weight in the process.
That’s exactly what the guys on Discovery Channel’s Deadliest Catch have to do. Captain Sig Hansen and Captain Keith Colburn sat down with Men’s Fitness for an exclusive interview on just how dangerous their jobs really are—and what they have to do to maintain phsyical and mental fitness despite impossible conditions.
Never seen Deadliest Catch? The show, now in its 8th season, follows fishermen (and wannabe fishermen) aboard massive boats during the fall and winter as they catch Alaskan king crab and C. opilio crab in the Bering Sea off the coast of Alaska. Part of the show involves bringing rookie crew members aboard. The only problem? Testosterone and ego create blinders, turning even the toughest men into whimpering sailors. So far, 27 guys have failed. And according to Hansen, “There is nothing on the planet that anybody does, that is more brutal than what we do.” After seeing this show—and this video—we're convinced.Find Supplements to Power Your Life at GNC Live Well >>>
