If you’re ever trying to get your parents’ approval to stick around Hollywood and keep chasing your acting dream, try landing a major role in one of the biggest film franchises of all time.
It worked for Ashley Greene, anyway.
“My parents weren’t too excited that I wasn’t going to college,” says Greene, who moved out West from Florida at age 17. “Right at two years, my dad said maybe it was time to start thinking about coming home. Then I booked Twilight”—the insanely popular teen vampire epic, in which she was cast as Alice—“and that changed everything.” Greene, 29, ended up appearing in all five Twilight films; now, just as Hollywood has pivoted unabashedly toward television, so has she, joining DirecTV’s cerebral thriller Rogue as smart, sexy, but fairly effed-up former NSA agent Mia Rochlan.
“Mia’s a bit crazy, with a dark, checkered past,” Greene says. “The things I had to do in the audition were definitely out of my comfort zone. I just left all my insecurities aside.”
All the ass-kicking she has to do on the show comes pretty naturally, though. “I grew up in the South and had two cop cousins,” she says, “so the whole shooting thing wasn’t intimidating.”
