When former UFC bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey lost her last two fights—first to Holly Holm, then to Amanda Nunez—the mental hits seemed more cutting than the physical blows. She admitted she'd suffered from depression after the shocking loss to Holm and strayed from the spotlight after Nunez, posting a J.K. Rowling quote on Instagram that read: “And so rock bottom became the solid foundation in which I rebuilt my life.”
In Rousey's case, some of that rebuilding will come on camera.
The fighter has been seen wearing a bright orange prison jumpsuit in New York, as part of the is for a guest role on on NBC's Blindspot, the Washington Post reports. Rousey seems to be getting her bearings on screen, flexing her acting chops as she's done before on films like Furious 7 and Entourage, as well as a totally respectable hosting gig on Saturday Night Live.
As for Rousey's Blindspot role: "Rousey will be playing Devon Penberthy: a female prison inmate who grew up in a working class family from the White Mountains of New Hampshire and is serving time for transporting weapons across state lines," according to a press release NBC released. "She is a tough, athletic woman who knows how to fight and handle a weapon."
That's for damn sure.
Tune in to Rousey's ‘Blindspot’ episode when it airs in May 2017.
