By far the biggest news event on the list stems from the sickening acts of terror at the Boston Marathon back in April. What is often heralded as the best day of the year for the city turned to devastation, as the bombing near the finish line killed three people and injured hundreds more. But it's best not to remember the bomb— remember the bravery and courage of the marathoners, supporters, and people of Boston in the attack's wake. Scores of people helped the injured to safety, escorting them and applying pressure to wounds. The endurance runners and Boston communities both proved their strength in the face of a truly disgusting, pointless act of terror.
