Earth Day: Eddie Bauer and Ryan Reynolds Are Teaming Up to Save the Planet

You can help simply by sending a text message.

Earth Day is fast approaching. (April 22, 2016.) There are many ways you can get involved to help to help save the environment, but this is probably one of the easiest and is super effective: Thanks to Eddie Bauer and its partnership with Ryan Reynolds to benefit American Forests, you can help plant trees—and save the planet—simply by texting. Starting on Monday, April 18, text ONETREE to 80077 to make a $5 dollar donation to plant 5 trees. What’s more, during these dates, Eddie Bauer will match donations up to 75 thousand trees. It’s part of the brand's “One Tree Initiative.”

This goes back to Eddie Bauer's roots (literally): “For nearly 100 years, the Eddie Bauer brand has been inspiring and enabling people to have rich outdoor experiences. Eddie himself spent his entire life encouraging people to go outdoors, and reminding them to assume responsibility for preserving the beauty of nature. One of his favorite mantras was to ‘always put back more than I took.’ This has made our 20-year partnership with American Forests not just a natural fit, but one we are incredibly passionate about,” said Mike Egeck, President and Chief Executive Officer of Eddie Bauer, in a press release.

“The outdoors have always been a big part of my life and I hope to help ensure that we preserve our forests for future generations, one tree at a time,” Reynolds added.

(You can also win a trip for two to California's Redwood National & State Parks from Eddie Bauer. To enter, post a picture of a tree, forest, or other earth–themed image to Instagram or Twitter and share why #OneTree matters to you. See official contest rules here.)
