6 Brutal NFL Leg Snaps

These videos are painful enough to watch.

You’ve got to be a training-hardened sonovabitch to sustain the brutal blows that are part and parcel of playing NFL football. But you can't train your bones to be less breakable and the Colts' Eric Foster is no exception. Indy's defensive tackle took a tumble in the second quarter of the team's October 3 tilt against Tampa Bay when his teammate, defensive end Tyler Brayton, rolled over his right leg as the two went down. The resultant barrel twisted his ankle into a bendy straw, sending him to the hospital and ending his season. To add insult to injury, the Colts lost 24-17.

But Foster isn’t the only NFL player to suffer a cringe-inducing leg snap on the field. Here are other players who know his pain all too well.

ERIC WOOD

TIM KRUMRIE
Tim Krumrie also suffered an infamous injury when he broke his leg in two places during Super Bowl XXIII in 1989. Then a defensive tackle for the Cincinnati Bengals, Krumrie was tackling San Francisco 49ers running back Roger Craig when his cleat got caught on the turf. The rising star had a metal rod inserted in his leg and returned to play for six more years, but was never the same.

DEON BUTLER
In a December 12, 2010 game against the San Francisco 49ers, Seattle Seahawks receiver Deon Butler broke his leg while catching a touchdown pass from Matt Hasselbeck during the final minutes of the game.

EJ HENDERSON
Minnesota Vikings linebacker EJ Henderson snapped his leg during a loss to the Arizona Cardinals on December 6, 2009, ending his season. Henderson dove after Cardinals running back Tim Hightower, but missed and tripped over a teammate.

JOE THEISMANN
This footage of Giants linebacker Lawrence Taylor ending Redskins quarterback Joe Theismann's career with a compound fracture in 1985 is the grandaddy of all football leg snap videos.
