When the lifts stop turning, Vail is the place to be. With 350 annual inches of snowfall, 3,500 vertical feet, 31 lifts, and 5,000 acres of ridable terrain, you can shred everything from long, expert runs to powder-filled back bowls. And when the sun sets, hit one of Vail’s many watering holes for good barbecue and pub grub. Vail is a pedestrian-friendly town with dozens of restaurants and bars within walking distance from the five-star Vail Four Seasons (totally worth the splurge, you can practically ski out the back door). Try the George for happy hour (3-7 p.m.) and Samana for a Euro-dance atmosphere later in the night.
