Indeed, 54.9 percent of the respondents to the Men's Fitness Sex Survey said they wished they could change their body hair -- more than any other physical attribute, including muscularity. But while shaving isn't for everyone, athletes have been lathering up and blading down for years. In many sports, a hairless epidermis can make you faster, safer and generally more comfortable.
Bicycle legs
Cyclists are probably the group of athletes best known for going under the razor. But there's more to shaving than just making their gastrocs look awesome. "The main reason cyclists shave is in case of a crash," says former Olympic cycling coach Edmund R. Burke, Ph.D. "[With hair], your skin grabs more asphalt and you tend to get greater tearing or abrasions. Second, it's a heck of a lot easier to clean the wound and bandage it without all that hair to deal with."
The easiest place to wield a blade is in the shower. First-timers may want to clip some of the excess hair with scissors or the trimmer on an electric razor. After letting the hot water open your pores, lather up--hair conditioner works really well--and shave in upward strokes. Clean shaves last only about three days and regrowth can be itchy, so this might become a semiweekly routine.

"Competitive swimmers shave just before an important meet to increase their senses and decrease their drag in the water," says Mary Wagner, a spokeswoman for the United States Olympic swim team.

Listen, I don't know what kind of women a lot of you guys are dealing with, but what I've found is that most of them like hair on a man. They don't want a 12 year old when you are locked up under the sheets. Now, as far as it being "cleaner" or whatever, yes anywhere that you have hair, there is oder, but come on. Take a bath regularly and use deoderant. If you have more hair, take a shower in the morning and at night. That being said, I can understand if you are a guy with a fur coat on 24/7. I imagine that that would be kind of a turn off and also uncomfprtable. But for the rest of us, lighten up. Unless you get direct input from the person you are involved with, don't stress.

Has everyone forgot that humans are mammals? Mammals have hair. Rejoice in the man hair, it is there for a reason. I live in northern Canada, and I can't tell you how many times my fur has made the freezing winter just a little easier to deal with. My wife once nagged me into getting a complete body wax for a trip to Florida. Sure it felt fine and dandy, but when I got back to the bitter north, my arse was chapped for a month.

The reasons behind removing pubic hair could also be applied to the hair on the scrotum and around the anus, because the purpose is to be completely clean and pure and keep away from anything that may cause dirt and impurities. I personally like the smooth feeling. I keep the top trimmed very close and shave everything else.

I am a hairy 35 year old man. I have hair on my chest , arms, legs. I often get it on my back and ball sac which i use a delapiatory cream (Veet) to remove it, as these areas are not so attractive or appealing. Although some girls love it!!! as for the other hareas (Hairy Areas) I am proud of it. it really turns some girls on in bed. I keep it well groomed. The best thing to use is electronic hair clippers. it just makes it the right length. I usually use a grade 2. I really dont know how most of you guys who use wax or creams for hair removal, manage to find the time to do it. Let alone have a relationship??? Come on guys if it was meant to be then so it was.

i like to pull off my body hair. considering i resemble a YEDI, it takes away, especially if i get sweaty during the process. hair can also emit funky odors, especially during mating season!!

I got one of those Phillips Norelco BodyGroomers, it comes with different sized heads so you can just trim some of your hair if you want to control it a bit it works great. i use it on my chest to shave and it works great and i havn't had any ingrown hair probelems that i had before with a razor. its only like 30 bucks at target and well worth the money. also great for beard trimming.

I'm one of those guys whose body hair gets too long, especially in the center of the chest area and happy trail. I recently came across the Phillips Norelco G390 Cordless Multitrim Personal Grooming Set from Costco for around $30 or so, I don't remember. It's a great way to trim down but not eliminate those long pubes! It comes with five attachments to trim everything you could think of. I trim my chest hair with the precision trimmer attachment and set it to #4. Now, I still have my chest hair; it looks very well kept and uniform without the beast look.

Laser hair removal is a great way to remove hair. FYI it does cost alot but in the long run you won't be botherd by shaving every other day. It can take anywhere from 3-5 area treatments. I did my arms,butt, abs.I don't regret it.

Body hair is extremely important on a man that wants to get attention from the oppisite sex. Why you ask? .....Pheramones. Hair traps Pheramones. If you shave too much of it off believe it or not the amount of attention you get from women decreases. Having to much hair is not good either. Its better just to keep things trimmed and under control. Areas that should be cleaned shaved are your back, buttocks,face, and crotch. Trim everything else.....take care all.

I trim my pubes, legs, and underarms with the Norelco BodyGroom. It works very well with the three provided attachments. I bleach the little hair on my abdomen (aside from my happy trail) and then wax or shave my chest. I've been having trouble with shaving though, as I get a lot of irritation. Any suggestions?

For all who shave there privates, There is a blue gel like chream that is made for women but i use it for my stomac chest and privates. It works SO GOOD, no irritation at all! Its called bakini like in a blue bottel.

I shave my chest and trim my underarms and pubic area. I do it because it feels better when I am weightlifting and running. I have long curly hair so if my chest hair gets matted, it causes pus-filled ingrown hairs. Same for the underarm and pubic area. Plus if you keep your under arms trimmed, you can save money on deoderant since you will not have to coat so much underarm hair.

Mike, Get a pair of clippers (about $30 Dollars) with attachments to shorten the hair on your legs without removing it entirely. It's good to have some hair on your legs, but a little feminine to have none.

I'm 43 and have been doing some trimming and shaving for years. I'm fairly hairy. Particularly in the summer, I use a trimmer on my chest and pits. Eventually, I end up trimming more. The pits still look natural with some trimmed hair, and my deodorant works much better being trimmed. It all ends up looking pretty natural and is easy to maintain. My wife shaves my back about once a week with an electric shaver. We go to a family oriented pool in the summer months and most of the men there seem to have some grooming going on. You rarely see a guy laying back with 2 or 3 inch pit hair flowing in the breeze and these days I don't think most women want to see a lot of excessive hair.

I trim my leg hair every 3 weeks and it looks great. I don't shave, but did at one time. It just took too long. I'm really happy with how my legs look now. The trimmer takes off the longer dark hair, leaving the lighter shorter hair, so it almost looks like I have no leg hair.

Hair is beautiful on tall strong, older men like Gerard Butler. I'm 24 years old, 5'7" tall and very smooth. I have blond hair and green eyes. I think masculine men should be hairy and muscular.
