I am a slender guy and I'm trying to gain weight. I don't have anyone really supporting me so I don't have the motivation to continue. But i really want to.Can anyone help?
-- David
The thing that keeps me motivated is when i see a girl i'm interested in i would usually approach her and sees what she's all about. Unfortunetly, they hardly give me the time of day and move on to the next guy, who happens to be incredible muscular and tone, one who obviously works out. So, it's back off to the gym so that the next girl won't look past me.

FitDay.com is a great site. I downloaded the desktop version of their software, which is a little more powerful, but the free site is great too. It's amazing how much better you eat when you simply track what you're eating and can see a breakdown of calories, carbs, protein and fat. When you add in the wieght and activity logs, it's a quick and easy way to see the impact that diet and excersize has on your health. It's a great motivator and you're not dependant on a single fad diet or excersize program that you can easily quit. Of every diet or excersize routine I've tried since working out, using FitDay helped me acheive the greatest results I've ever seen, outside of the first three months of lifting weights of course ;)

Dear Friend,
I have a identical twin brother who need to be recognized or associated with muscle men of his type before he harm somebody mentally and physically. This somebody could be himself or me. I'm not sure what type of management is used for personalities of this type. Could you give me some advise or tips on this issue?
Because he is bench pressing 340 pds and leg pressing 600 pds. Maybe he need to be on the front cover of a Muscle & Fitness magazine or something....!

Another way, besides weight lifting, is to pick a martial art and start training it. Ive been 17 years training various martial arts, i ve been champion in three countries in fighting competitions, and still im not a tipical muscular guy. In fact, you wouldnt say im a muscular guy. But i can lift 180 lbs with my arms only. Thats because of constant training. If you dont think you have constance, pick a martial art, and train it at least 1hr a week. I can garantee you that having a normal diet plan, in a month you can see the results. You wont become Van Damme, but you will lose weight and gain muscle tonification, plus some more other benefits. Sexually speaking, a martial artist can be "usefull" until the age 70 (more or less). If you dont believe that, go ask a martial artist near you (just joking).

Conor,
There is only one way and one way only that you can put on some serious "natural" weight.
You have to without question eat minimum 1gm of protein per body lbs.
This saying if you are 170lbs as you say you are kick up the protein and make sure to have your meals broken down every 3 hours to maintain you blood sugar.
Say no to junk food, it puts on bad weight.
Do this and I can promise a good look in about 6 months.
Also,very important my friend.
We grow when we rest not when we are working out.
in other word, if you don’t rest, you wont grow.
According to amen's fitness magazine a study proved that men who worked out 3 days a week appose to 5-6 days gained more muscle and less “if any” fatigue.
Email me next time for advice, I hardly check this site out.
Best of luck, and stay juice free unless it’s not from concentrate, hehe

I have been filling my mouth with nuts and bananas even though my mom says i have a hot body. She says I have my dad’s firm legs and my grandmother strong upper body. I wish someone would encourage me to be more than just a hottie for my mom and be a hottie for someone else’s mom. Please help

Im 17 years old and am starting to workout on a regular basis, I was doing 3 days a week and doing the same exercises each time, but now I've got a whole bunch of exercises to do, would it be better if I worked out 4 days a week and had 2 diff groups of exercises so that I would do each group 2 times a week or should i have 2 diff groups and just do one each day for 5 or 6 days?
-- Monty
Hey, I've had the same problem. Get rid of the junk food and replace it with strawberries, oranges, grapes, blueberries, even oatmeal. I found the sweeter fruits, like strawberries, really stopped my munchies. And remember hunger is psychological, just sit down and tell yourself no more shit food and stick to it, don't give in once.

im trying to build abs-i eat extemly strict...just vegetables,fruit,fish/sushi,yogurt and brown rice..thats my diet..and my exercise is 6am-7am cardio ,12:00pm-12:30 brisk walk (i walk home from school) and 4:30-5:30..i also do all my chores and play sports(just f ...just for fun..so im all around active...i also train my abs every other day..my stomach is completely flat..i just can;t get any abs on it! i weigh 115 with a 19 percent body fat...am i over training?
-- gymchick
YOu sound like you are in good shape, however in order to see the abs, you need to have your bodyfat a little lower. For a women 19% is healthy and I'm sure you look great, but if you want to see the abs you need to get down at least to 15%. Don't do anything extreme you want to hang on to good healthy muscle, which is difficult for us women to get. Do your cardio training just below AT (anaerobic Thershold) so you burn alot of fat. If you are not familiar with AT, the easiest way to describe it is right before you become breathless, you should be able to carry on a conversation but you need to take breaths between words.
Ask a trainer if you need further clarification. What type of ab exercises are you doing? Dont' just do sets of 12 or 15 llike you do with the weights, keep going so you feel your abs burn, pull in your abs at the point of exertion and exhale out very strong each time. Just like all your exercises form is KEY! The abs will come, mine really show between 13 and 15% bodyfat.

i am 16 years old. i am 5'8" and i weigh 175. i dont really wan to gain muscle but instead lose weight. i exercise 2-3 times a weak on my bicycle and once in a while i lift weights. i usually do low weight at high reps. what else shoud i do to lose weight?
-- matt
If you want to lose weight, consider food as fuel not pleasure: don't eat stuff that has been processed in a factory because they contain chemicals to boost your appetite (so you'll eat more of their product). Eat healthy natural foods that don't taste great, like whole grain stuff, meats without sauces or flavorings, veggies without flavorings or butter. Cut WAY down on salt. If it tastes too good, don't eat it!
-- Superman
Stop downing creatine!!! It is NATURAL!!! The worst you will hear about it is that it doesn't work which is totally false. It has also been found to be safe over a short period of time and that is only because not many long term studies are available. So if you're worried about health issues take it for a couple months and stop! Also you must drink water to stay healthy. It cleans all the crap out of your system. Its VITAL even if you're not taking a lot of protein.
-- Mike Lowry
Is it true that not everyone can see abdominal formation? I have done several exercises on the stomach for ever but nary a stomach flat muscular and toned like every gym rat wants.
-- steve sch.
On January 1st, I weighed 355 lbs. As of April 16th, I weigh 270 lbs. I lost it by cutting back on my eating, and working out at the gym 3 - 4 days a week... on an average of 1 hour a day. Is there anything else I should be doing? Should I feel myself suppliments or something? I already do the green tea thing. What else could I do?

I am a 43 soon to be 44 year old mother of 5. I have had 2 liver transplants and now have diabetes. I weigh 270.1lb and am 5'10. I use to be beautiful and curvy when I was young and weighed 185lbs and for a big oned black woman that is the GREAT !! Now because of my health and my vanity as will as my self esteem I need to lose weight. I am struggling I can't afford gyms or trainers and I am so down on myself now because after 20 years of marriage that is ending too. I look at myself in the mirror and see a whale. I have started walking in the mornings and doing stair work in the evenings--I am one of those people who just don't lose easily--can someone out there help me or should I just eat a bullet or a chocolate cake ?
