Cuervo Gold + Sangrita

2 cups tomato juice or Bloody Mary mix
1/2 cup lime juice
3 tsp grenadine
Dash hot sauce
Pinch salt
Fresh ground pepper to taste
Jose Cuervo Especial tequila

To Make: [1] Combine all ingredients except tequila in a pitcher. [2] Pour into tall shot glasses. [3] Pour tequila into separate shot glasses and serve with Sangrita: Toss back the tequila, then drink the Sangrita as a chaser. Makes 10 servings.

Clear Your Head
It's not just a weird coincidence that your nose runs whenever you eat spicy food. Capsaicin, the ingredient that makes hot sauce hot (it's found in cayenne and other red chili peppers), stimulates secretions that help clear mucus from your lungs and nose. It's similar to a compound found in many cold medicines, except it works faster. We wouldn't suggest snorting it, though.

Lose Your Gut
Having trouble deflating the spare tire around your midsection? Add more limes to your diet. Researchers from Arizona State University found that the vitamin C they contain is directly related to the ability to oxidize fat and use it as fuel: The more vitamin C in your system, the more efficiently your body burns fat.

Pick Your Poison
Which tequila you choose should depend on how you plan to drink it. Gold tequila is ideal for shots or making margaritas, but if you're more of a sipper than a shooter, look for reposado or añejo. Reposado tequila is aged in an oak barrel for two months to a year and has a mild, mellow flavor. Añejo spends more than a year in the barrel and is even smoother than reposado. For the ultimate añejo, try Cuervo's Reserva de la Familia.

Do It Yourself
No Bloody Mary mix on hand? Try making your own: Mix 1 (46 oz) bottle tomato juice or V8, 1/4 cup lemon juice, 2 1/2 tbsp black pepper, 3 tsp celery salt (1 tsp if you're using V8), 2 1/2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce, 1 tbsp prepared horseradish, and hot sauce to taste. For an extra kick of flavor, add 1/4 cup salsa or drizzle in some of the liquid from a jar of green olives.
