Your mom was right about breakfast. The journal Circulation reports that guys who skipped breakfast had a 27% higher chance of a heart attack or coronary disease than morning-meal eaters.

“Skipping breakfast can cause risk factors—obesity, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes—that could lead to a heart attack,” says study author Leah E. Cahill, Ph.D. Just don’t be all, “I’m gonna stack my plate with pancakes”: Physiology & Behavior found that college kids who ate a 600-calorie breakfast took in 400 more calories a day than those who skipped it.

Moral of the story: Eat breakfast, just keep it light.
