10 Celebrity-Created Beers, Wines, and Liquors
From a boy band brewing its own beer to a shock rocker slinging absinthe, these 10 stars have made side gigs out of branding booze.
Celebrities and purveyors of premium spirits share a common bond—as in, they both tend to strive for perfection. So, when an internationally known movie or music star decides to lend their name (and often ideas) to a brand of booze, you best believe they’re pouring their heart and soul into a quality product.
Or at least we all hope. Backed with the resources do the job right, most celebrity-created liquor, beer, and wine can definitely be classified as “the good stuff.” Here is a list of celebs, some recent and others more recent, who have dabbled in the adult beverage industry.
901 Tequila (Justin Timberlake)
Tequila has been a hot celebrity industry for years thanks to Sammy Hagar’s Cabo Wabo. (In fact, Patron was co-founded by hair stylist John Paul DeJoria of John Paul Mitchell fame.) Going on four years strong, Justin Timberlake's 901 Tequila, the newly crowned President of Pop’s ode to Memphis, has been dubbed by the crooner as “the moment when evening ends and your night begins.” Is that supposed to be a riddle?
Crystal Head Vodka (Dan Aykroyd)
Don’t let the really cool bottle fool you: Dan Aykroyd’s now iconic vodka is more than just a marketing gimmick. The quadruple-distilled and seven times filtered process makes for a delightfully smooth product, which has skyrocketed in sales faster than the likes of Grey Goose and Belvedere. The signature skull wasn’t beloved by all though. In 2010, Aykroyd’s native Ontario condemned the booze, claiming the bottle was offensive. An outage ensued, and the ban was lifted a year later. (Lighten up, Ontario!)
