Top mix masters at Moët Hennessy show you how to whip up this easy (and tempting!) rum cocktail at the 2013 South Beach Wine and Food Festival.

THE LIGHT AND STORMY

Chances are, you’ve heard of the famous Dark and Stormy drink made form dark spiced rum. Well, consider this drink it’s brother. The Light and Stormy is made with 10 Cane — much lighter, vanilla tasting rum. Add ginger ale (or ginger beer, for an extra kick). And it’s super easy to make. We’re pleased to say we snagged backstage video demos of a line-up of adult beverages served by Moët Hennessy at the 2013 South Beach Wine and Food Festival. Best yet? They’re all perfect for summer — especially, The Light and Stormy.  

Mix master Jordan Bushell, national bartender for Moët Hennessy, shows us live at the SOBE Wine and Food Festival, how easy it is to make this warm-weather cocktail. Plus, he shows us the proper way to garnish, and no, it’s more complicated than tossing in a slice of lime. Pour ingredients over ice, garnish, and bottoms up!

What you need:

2oz 10 Cane

4oz of Ginger Beer or ginger Ale

1/2 oz Lime Juice

How to make it: Pour ingredients in a highball glass over cubed ice. Garnish with lime wedge.

Bushnell’s Tip: Remember, garnish is more than just a look-good add on to your drink.  When you add the lime, run it around the rim of your glass and squeeze lightly into your drink before you drop it in, to balance out the flavors in this cocktail.
