Jim Barry "Cover Drive" Cabernet Sauvignon 2009 ($17)
The name Jim Barry will give you automatic cred, as he is well known for limited and boutique bottlings. This accessible and affordable Cabernet would do well against much higher-end California counterparts, with dense flavors of blackberry and boysenberry. Your boss will be particularly impressed if you suggest savoring it out of the good glassware. Use a big Bordeaux glass to fully appreciate this little gem.
Tasting Cheat Sheet:Blackcurrant, violets, rosemary and cedar with a palate of boysenberry, cassis, star anise and menthol.
