The FridgeThe Guy's Guide to Hard Cider
Before you dismiss it as a girly drink, read this.

It’s Thursday, and that’s a good enough excuse to grab a drink after work. But instead of going for your usual gin and tonic or a cold brew, why not try some cider? Sure, you could write this one off as a “girl drink,” but save it–cider is great option for everyone, including the manliest of men. Here are four reasons why.
Whether you were diagnosed with celiac disease, are following a Paleo diet, or just want a drink option that won’t bother your stomach, cider is your best bet. It’s made from apples (it takes about 36 to make a gallon) and doesn’t contain wheat, barley, or rye, which means it’s safe for those avoiding gluten. Plus, unlike gluten-free beer, cider is easier to find and a lot of bars even have it on tap.
It Has a Pretty High Alcohol Content
Not that we’re a bunch of binge-drinking college kids, but there’s nothing like a good buzz. A bit stronger than many popular beer choices, most ciders have 5% to 5.5% ABV. Anything stronger than that is, by law, considered to be “wine,” but if you’re looking for something more, try Apple Brandy, a.k.a. “Applejack.”
It’s No Strawberry Daiquiri
If fruity flavored drinks aren’t really your thing, you may still enjoy cider. Because like every other boozy beverage out there, there are different types. Some ciders are sweeter than others, while others are infused with fruit flavors beyond the good ol' apple. Take your pick.
You've Got Organic Options
You may not know where everything you drink comes from, but there are ciders out there that are completely organic. Bare Naked from Crispin is a good option. It doesn't contain a bunch of added preservatives or colors, so you won't have to worry about what you're putting into your body.
Bottom line: Cider is good. Just drink it.
