“Not only a great source of protein, but also a terrific way to get good fat; i.e., they are high in monounsaturated fat, which can work to help lower bad cholesterol and raise good cholesterol,” says Mullen. “They are also packed with calcium and Vitamin E (they actually have more of both than any other nut), the latter of which is a fat soluble vitamin with antioxidant properties. For the body to be able to absorb fat-soluble vitamins we need fat, and almonds are a very efficient vehicle to do so. Oh and once again, delicious too.”
