Blue Jays Shortstop: 'Monkeys Don't Cramp'

Munenori Kawasaki doesn't speak much English, but he makes every word count.
Munenori Kawasaki

Baseball fans may be aware of Blue Jays shortstop Munenori Kawasaki, but for everyone else, let's just say he is a bit of a character. While he would the first to admit that he is a work in progress when it comes to perfecting the language of Shakespeare, he always gives it his best shot.

Earlier this week, in a post-game interview, he explained how he battled cramps by eating three bananas. Kawasaki's rationale was that "monkeys don't cramp." While we did not verify this with a zoologist, we can tell you that bananas are a great pre-workout food and that you need potassium to fight cramping.

We unearthed a few other classic Munenori Kawasaki interviews, and in each one, no matter what the language, the 33-year-old from Japan exudes positive energy, optimism, and cheerfulness. It's easy to see why he is a hit with fans.
