A Real Bandit Marathoner

This could be the perfect getaway, if you can run 26.2 miles.

Bryan Duffy had the race of his life in the Chicago Marathon this past Sunday, even though he wasn’t officially registered.

The 29-year-old allegedly hopped onto the course – presumably to blend with a pack of runners – while trying to evade police, according to DNAinfo Chicago.

From their report:

“Officers wanted to talk to Duffy, of the 3900 block of West Belmont Avenue in Avondale, after he was spotted digging around flower pots along the route, prosecutors said.

When officers approached, Duffy ran away and joined the runners, prosecutors said.”

The packet of MDMA he allegedly possessed robbed him of a coveted finisher’s medal and landed him in Cook County Jail, giving an even worse name to bandit marathoners* everywhere.

*Sad-sack runners who don’t register for the race but compete in it anyway. They already have a bad name to begin with, sans drugs.
