If you think you'd be happier if you were in Costa Rica, you're dead-on, according to the World Database of Happiness (who knew there was such a thing).

Erasmus University, in Holland, compiled data looking at the lifestyle of the world's population to determine how many years out of a person's life they're happy.

On average, Americans claim to be happy for nearly 60 years. Not bad, actually. But not as good as many of our global neighbors.

So, how many years of your life would you be happy in...

Costa Rica - 66.7

  • Iceland - 66.4
  • Canada - 64
  • Australia - 62.9
  • Mexico - 59.5
  • U.S.A. - 58
  • U.K. - 56.9
  • Brazil - 53.6
  • Japan - 50.8
  • China - 45.5
  • India - 35.1
  • Zimbabwe - 12.5
