It's that time of year when our shorts start getting phased out and our sweaters reluctantly make their way back into our daily routines. Fall is creeping up on us and it is time to consider the inevitable wardrobe changes it will bring. To help you out, we rounded up the 25 most important items to look for this season so that you can start your day with one less thing to worry about. If you have these fall style essentials, getting dressed in the morning couldn't be easier. Everything you see here works well together or on its own. These are some of the best out there currently—but many are also classics you can keep around for a while. What's more, you can find them at all different price points to satisfy your individual sartorial needs.
This fall, and practically during any season, a crisp dark pair a selvedge Jeans can stand in as a dress pant when worn properly. Paired with a pressed button front shirt and a cleaned up shoe, you can own just about any room.
You probably already have a selection of white shirts. Well, fall is a great time to refresh as summer probably wreaked havoc on those arm pits. (Pro tip: Wear deodorant NOT antiperspirant to keep yellow arm pits at bay.)
Turnbull & Asser White Cotton Shirt, Mr Poter Exclusive, $365
Cashmere is everywhere now. It's soft, it's warm, it's luxurious. You can find it at various price points but rest assured, you much more likely to find yourself embracing that love interest of yours if you're in it.
Marlon Brando, Paul Newman, Steve McQueen-They all had their signiture leather jackets. They always work, they never look bad, and the last forever. If you don’t have one, get one for fall. You’ll be a bad ass in no time.
You may not use it to tell time, but in an iWorld, there is something to be said about an old school time piece. Invest in a good one for those times when you need to throw a suit on and your digital gym watch doesn’t quite cut it. It's also a conversation starter.
This is a great option for when you need something that looks proper but is still incredibly comfortable. A rubber sole on a leather boot is the answer. Seriously, this boot goes with just about anything.
Rockport City Smart Inside Zip Boot in Black, $160
These days, we are busier than ever with work, family and a social life. So it makes more sense to get all we need together in one place. You need a bag that works for the office, out on the town—and hitting the gym in between.
WANT les Essentiels de la Vie Hartsfield Weekender Tote in Multi Navy/Black, $450
By now, you should own your suit basics; Blue, Gray, Khaki. So it's time to invest in one with a little more personality. A patterned suit will allow you to step up your style without stepping out of your comfort zone. Don’t worry, you don’t have to go crazy, just enjoy something a little different this fall.
This is your new dress shirt. Think outside the box and pair it with your navy suit and see what great reactions you get. But don’t worry, obviously it looks great with jeans too. It’s the new blue oxford shirt.
Brunello Cucinelli Cham, bray Shirt, Similar Styles $495
This is to fall what the khaki trench is to spring. This versatile staple works with just about everything. Don’t let the formal nature of it scare you. It looks good as hell with beat up jeans and sneakers. You’ll get compliments, trust me.
J. Crew Ludlow Peak-Lapel Wool-Cashmere Topcoat in Dark Camel, $450
Summer has passed, and the fall days may still be warm, but the nights can turn cold. Get a good pair of functional gloves that can cover a lot of ground. Keep all your accessories black OR brown to keep it simple.
Coach 3-In-1 Leather Gloves in Black, $198 (Available October 2015)
Don’t think this is reserved solely for the summer. A white sneaker transcends seasons and just looks good 12 months out of the year. With a jogger and a blazer, you look great, without having to really try that hard.
Your wallet is a status symbol. You are literally holding your money and identity in there. It should be something quiet and not brash. A clean, sleek wallet that fits all your stuff without being bulgy in your back pocket (or jacket pocket should you be wearing a suit) says you’re a grown up who knows what you're doing.
The future is here, and wearables are only going to be more a part of your life. So get on board with one that looks as good as it functions. This is not to replace your phone (or your analog watch—see slide 8), it is to enhance it, as well as your life. We are past early adopter status: this is now.
Apple Watch 42mm Stainless Steel Case with Black Classic Buckle, $699
As the leaves change and fall, the suns rays may not be as powerful against your skin, but that doesn’t mean they disappear. There is less shade to find respite under, so a good pair of shades is crucial. Get an aviator style in a tortoiseshell and you will be set.
Persol Polarized Aviator/Pilot #PO0649 in Tortoise/Brown, $300
This pant may stick around for a while, or it may not, but it's sure as hell a comfy alternative to the basic jeans and t-shirt option. Put on a button front and sweater with a pair of sneakers and you look pulled together and comfortable.
Sneakers with your suit on the way to work is not a new concept. Making them look cool while doing it is. Brands have really made it so that you can look cool no matter what your level of comfort, so get a pair that doubles as a stylish option.
New Balance 990 Distinct Mid-Century Modern in Blue with Navy, $249.99
This one is a no brainer. Undoubtedly one of the most American staples to a guy’s wardrobe, the jean jacket has had a surge in popularity the past few years as guys have started wearing it with everything. With jeans, with khakis, even with a suit, it only gets better with age.
Admit it or don’t, but guys have bad hair days sometimes, too. A nice navy baseball cap is a great way to cover it up and still look cool and put together. Ladies still seem to love a guy in a suit with a baseball cap on… Maybe even more.
Ebbets Field Flannels New York Black Yankees 1936 Ballcap, $44
Here's the wild card: Something that says "you" is something we can’t tell you to buy. Maybe it’s a bracelet, or your grandfather's dog tags, or your signature red sock. Whatever it is, you owe it to yourself to enjoy what you're wearing and letting it communicate who you are. Like it or not, what you wear lends to the first impression you give to those you meet... Be unique.
