Metta World Peace Releases Panda Bear Sneakers

Yes, you read that right.

If there’s one concrete rule when it comes to style it’s this: The key to pulling off any look is not caring what people think about it.

And you have to know that’s true when it comes to former NBA star player Metta World Peace, formerly known as Ron Artest and reportedly in the process of changing his name to “The Pandas Friend.” (The names are yet more evidence of Metta’s disregard for what anyone thinks of him).

And now, enter his new panda shoes.  World Peace will play in panda shoes – a black or white pair of sneakers with a non-detachable panda head on the tongue – when he suits up for the Sichaun Blue Whales of the Chinese Basketball Association, starting in November.

World Peace actually released the sneakers and panda-inspired t-shirts this week on his website, According to his Twitter account, there’s more apparel to come.  If you want them, the shoes are just $79.99. A portion of the proceeds with go to XCel University, an organization founded by World Peace meant to bring awareness to mental health issues.

However, as far as the apparel goes, our personal favorite is the t-shirt that reads: “Acknowledge me please.”

Truer words were never spoken.
