Just like you switch out your bulky coats for light jackets when the warm days of spring seem more like they are here to stay, your skincare routine needs a refresher as well. For most of us, the combination of the cold outside and bone-dry heat inside creates dry and patchy, lackluster skin. Take the milder weather as an opportunity to adjust what your skin needs for the warm months ahead. Exfoliators, antioxidants, and SPF are what spring skincare is all about. Here are seven products to start using now—until the temps drop again come fall.
Throw in exfoliating treatments every couple weeks to really keep the dry skin from lingering around any longer. This one covers you in three ways: It combines botanical enzymes, salicylic acid, and eco-friendly micro-beads to leave skin thoroughly refreshed and renewed.
On the days you don’t exfoliate, it’s helpful to use an oil controlling face wash to combat the freakout your skin will likely be having. You don’t need aggressive pads or toners that make your skin feel stripped and squeaky. Your skin should have some oil. Otherwise you run the counterintuitive risk of an over-production of oil.
Hyaloronic Acid plumps up the skin making it look younger. It's found naturally in the skin, but adding an extra dose of moisture via this serum does double duty. Unlike other "acids", this doesn't strip skin at all, so it is safe to use as often as you would like. Use it either in the AM or PM—but it should be the first thing you do, so before sunscreen and/or a moisturizer.
Guys do masks. They may not brag about it, but they do. Masks are a great way to give your skin that extra bit of attention when you have the time. Spring is a perfect time as well. No doubt your skin has been dry over the winter, so using this hydrating and exfoliating mask every few days will refresh the skin making your skin look heathy.
Spring shakes out a lot of dust that has been covered up by the cold of winter. It’s a great time to add (or continue with, should you be so on top of it) an antioxidant rich lightweight gel. Antioxidants stand up against free radicals and compliment (but don’t replace) sunscreen. Use this in the morning over a serum and under a sunscreen.
Guys are getting better about wearing an SPF face cream on the regular. But a problem area for just about everyone is the under eye skin. It’s thin and delicate (yep, it’s even delicate on a man) and needs to be treated with care. Adding an SPF to your eye cream will automatically enhance it’s anti-aging properties.

Daily SPF is crucial guys. When anyone asks how he can look younger, the answer is always, wear sunscreen starting in your 20’s (or earlier)! But, better late than never if you're already past that time in your life. Think of it this way: Would you be better off starting a savings account after graduation or starting on it after retirement? The same goes for sunscreen—the sooner you start wearing it, the better off you'll be as you age.
