Calories burned: The most common sandbags can hold 50 pounds, so hauling that much would burn 10-12 calories per minute depending on terrain.

The Work: Sandbags have been used to prevent floods, and they’ve been used as a form of protection against military attack and for other uses ever since the 1700s. Unlike many other things on this list, sandbagging is actually still often in use, especially when it comes to flood prevention due to its inexpensive nature, effectiveness and the fact that unskilled volunteers can easily work with them.

Accessibility: Not the best, unless you live near a river like the Mississippi and a flood’s coming.
