Stone Cold Steve Austin knows a thing or two about workout injuries. We recently sat down with the former pro wrestler and set the record straight on when to continue training when you’re hurt and when you’re better off skipping a gym session and scheduling an appointment with your doctor instead. Generally speaking, you can train through a mild injury—lifting weights helps pump blood to the sore spot and can help begin the healing process. But if a ligament is torn or detached, it’s not going to heal itself, and you’ll need to suck it up and go get an x-ray or MRI.
