While his isn't a name that immediately springs to mind when you think of fitness, Steve Jobs dropped a few motivational gems for people in all walks of life.

When the Apple co-founder and CEO, who had been battling pancreatic cancer since 2004, finally succumbed to his illness on October 5, 2011, he left behind more than a tech empire—he left a huge carbon footprint and a ton of inspirational quotes.

On the key to success: "I'm convinced that about half of what separates the successful entrepreneurs from the non-successful ones is pure perseverance."

Fitness application: "If you work out more, you'll be more fit than people who don't work out as much."

On restraint and discipline: "It comes from saying 'no' to 1,000 things to make sure we don't get on the wrong track or try to do too much."

Fitness Application: "Say 'no' to greasy food. Don't work out until you hurt yourself."

On not being afraid to be different: "The ones who are crazy enough to think that they can change the world are the ones who do."
