Success Story: "I Was Setting a Terrible Example For My Family"
Two kids and 17-hour workdays were no excuse for this engineer not to whip himself into shape.

Becoming a father was the reason Todd Warren let his health take a turn for the worse, but it ultimately became the reason he finally decided enough was enough. "I made every excuse in the book on why I didn't have time to work out anymore, why I didn't have time to prepare healthy foods. In reality, I was just lazy."

After adhering to a strict fitness regimen in college that included daily workouts and basketball five to six times a week, his job as a design engineer confined him to cubicle for up to 20 hours a day and left no room for physical activity. His health further took a backseat when he had his first kid three years ago. "I would eat whatever I wanted with out-of-control portions and I finally looked in the mirror one day and was just disgusted and ashamed of what I had let happen." But getting fit wasn't just about feeling good about himself. "I was setting a terrible example for my family and the lack of energy from poor health choices was affecting my relationship with my kids and wife," Warren says. "The breaking point for me was all the guilt... On top of that, I didn't want my kids to follow in my footsteps. I knew something had to change so that I could be around in the future for them." Once he set his mind to it, Warren committed to the Beachbody P90X program, and went from 228 lbs. and 27% body fat to 178 lbs. and 7% body fat in just six months. To keep himself on the right fitness path, he even became a Beachbody coach—"There are lots and lots of people that look to me as a leader and I really don't want to let them down. It's accountability for me." Warren constantly motivates himself by upping the ante on his goals. "Right now I am planning on gaining about six to eight pounds of mass in the next 60 days," he says. And nothing is going to get in his way. "Deadlines keep me at a desk for 17-20 hours at a time some nights. If I can work this much, tend to my family, answer all the fitness questions I get online and still work out and eat clean, I don't want to hear your excuse!"
