Uncover your six-pack with this barbell-only routine.

There are two ways to make your abs show—and yes, you need to work at both—build the muscles of the core themselves and raise your heart rate so you burn more calories and lose fat in order to show them.

The Barbell Ab Workout accomplishes the former by employing hard exercises that challenge your stability—the front squat and suitcase deadlift in particular require strong involvement from the core, even though they were designed to target other muscle groups (in other words, you'll build muscle all over). It also covers the latter in that these exercises burn lots of calories to perform and cause you to burn even more in the days after you've trained due to the recovery demands.
