MEN’S FITNESS ULTIMATE ATHLETE CONTEST
OFFICIAL RULES
NO PURCHASE NECESSARY.
Winner Selection: One (1) winner will be selected by judges based on the following point system. There will also be a prize awarded to the winner of each individual sport challenge, along with a prize awarded to the top score of an Equinox member at each sports challenge.
Participants must complete a minimum of 5 challenges to be entered into the competition to become the Men’s Fitness Ultimate Athlete. Participants may complete more than 5 challenges but only their 5 highest scores will be used to determine a participant’s final score for the competition.
Each challenge is weighted on a 100 percent scale to equalize maximum points achievable. The top score of the day for each challenge is the benchmark value worth 100 percent. All participants’ scores will be calculated in comparison to the benchmark value equaling 100 percent. Participants will also be able to earn Bonus Points.
The winner will be the participant with the highest number of accumulated points (challenge score and earned Bonus Points) for 5 challenges.
Sport: Tennis
Competition: Fastest/Most Accurate Serve
Rules: Participants will be given three balls to serve. Each serve will be clocked for speed. The fastest timed serve out of the three balls that lands in the designated service box will be entered into the participant’s overall score, based on miles per hour. As a bonus, targets will be set up throughout the service box. Each target is worth 5 points. For every target hit, the participant is awarded 5 points, if the participant hits all 3 targets; he/she receives an additional 5 points. There are 20 possible Bonus Points available. The target is considered hit and points are awarded when the original shape of the target is altered. A ball that does not fully knock off the top target (i.e. bounce off the target), is considered an incomplete hit and no bonus points will be awarded.
Sport: Football
Competition: Quarterback Challenge
Rules: Each participant will have five balls to throw as quickly and as accurately as possible to hit 5 targets within 30 seconds. Each target is worth 20 points. The clock will start when the participant receives the first “snap” from the center. The additional 4 balls will be scattered around the “pocket”. The participant’s overall point total is based on the accumulation of the pre-determined, designated point values from the hit targets. Each target may only be hit only once. To earn Bonus Points: the total time it takes the participant to complete all 5 throws will be subtracted from 30 seconds. The remaining time will be added to their overall score (1 second = 1 Bonus Point). If time runs out before the participant is able to complete this skill challenge, the participant will receive 0 Bonus Points. The target is considered hit and points are awarded when the ball goes through the target and is caught in the net. A ball that does not fully enter and remain in the target (i.e. bounce off the target or miss the net), is considered an incomplete hit and no points will be awarded for that target.

Once the layup is complete, the participant must dribble to the free throw line to complete a free throw. Once the free throw is complete, the participant has the choice to shoot from a target located to the right or left of the free throw line and must dribble the basketball there. Once this shot is complete, they must dribble to the designated spot at the top of the key and sink a three point shot. To earn Bonus Points: the total time it takes the participant to complete all 4 shots will be subtracted from 60 seconds. The remaining time will be added to their overall score (1 second = 1 Bonus Point). If time runs out before the participant is able to complete this skill challenge, no Bonus Points will be awarded.

Before competing at an event, the participant will show their wristband to the head judge who will then record the participant’s number on an official score card. Upon completion of the event, the judge will record the athlete’s total score on the card and mark their wristband to show the event has been completed.
Each athlete will also be given a personal score card to keep track of their own scores, which competition is remaining, and the official rules of the event. This scorecard is an unofficial document for the sole purpose of personal use. All scores entered into the official competition scoring will be documented by an official judge and taken from the official score sheet at each challenge.

Each individual athlete will be responsible for the order they complete each competition. A participant may only enter their first score at each challenge to be considered and valid for the overall competition. Each competition will have a “speed lane” for first time Ultimate Athlete participants. The “speed lane” has priority. There will also be a line which is available to spectators and participants who have already entered scores into the official competition, yet still want to take part in each sport.
In the result of timing or scoring mishap, the judge may ask a participant to repeat the competition. This will be at the sole discretion of the judge.
Protests
Participants must file protests in regards to challenge competitions immediately following the completion of the competitions.
Protests must be filed with the competition’s judge who will then contact a Head Event Judge for consideration of protest. Competition will not be put on hold while protest is being discussed and considered.
There will be a 15 minute protest period during which the Head Judges will evaluate the protest. At 15 minutes, they will make a ruling on the protest. During this 15 minute time period, the participant may continue to participate in other competitions.
Judging
Judges will have the final ruling at all competitions.
All final times will be judged to the 100th of a second. (.i.e. 01)
You must be present to win.
After competition has been halted and overall scores are tallied, participants will compete at the Baseball fastest most accurate pitch challenge station in the result of a tie. Each participant will be given 1 ball to throw. The participant who throws the fastest pitch will win. The pitch must land in the strike zone. The targets will not be taken into consideration during the tie-breaker. If the participants throw the pitch at the same speed, they will repeat the action until there is one clear winner.
