Is Sex the Key to Success?

New study finds more sexually active adults are healthier—and wealthier.

Sure, sex burns calories. But a new study suggests that it puts money in your wallet, too. The Institute for the Study of Labor, an independent economic research institution in Germany, found that people ages 26–50 who had sex four or more times a week earned 5% more than those who had sex less often than that.

And people who were having sex once a week were earning 3.2% more than folks having no sex at all.

The study analyzed data from a previous survey in which 7,500 men and women ages 18–65 living in Greece were asked about several facets of their lives, including their sexual activity, personal health history, and income. Researchers found that not only do people who have more sex earn higher wages, they’re also less likely to have diabetes, heart disease, or arthritis.

“People need to love and be loved—sexually and nonsexually—by others. In the absence of these elements, many people become susceptible to loneliness, social anxiety, and depression that could affect their working life,” Dr. Nick Drydakis, author of the study, told CBS News. “Sexual activity is a key aspect of personal health and social welfare that influences individuals across their life span.”

Give your sex life a major boost to keep your health and paycheck on the upswing.
