With its wealth of warm weather, sandy beaches and hot nightlife, Miami seems like the type of city that would be filled with fit residents. But the home of South Beach actually landed at the top of our list of the Fattest Cities in America in 2009. Our reasons were simple - too many fast food restaurants, lousy air quality and an overall low interest in fitness. But we're happy to report that the Florida hot spot has taken some major steps in the right direction since taking the No. 1 spot on our countdown.

In an effort to increase the community's interest in working out, Miami has started to install outdoor gyms along its beaches. Open to the public and completely free to use, the fitness centers have been described as playgrounds for adults and have attracted many loyal users. The gyms were even profile by CNN, which you can see below.
