Mama-mia! What has the Pope gotten himself into?
The Pope's Italian diet, which includes carb-heavy staples like pizza and pasta, has forced Vatican doctors' hands. As reported by the New York Daily News, courtesy of Italy's ANSA news wire, Pope Francis' medical staff have placed the leader of the Catholic church on a strict diet, and recommended that the 78-year-old eat less pasta to counter a recent weight gain. A hectic schedule has reportedly forced Francis to neglect his daily walks, with the subsequent weight gain affecting his back and causing fatigue.
This announcement comes just two weeks after the Argentinian Pope professed his love for pizza, wishing he could "go out one day, without being recognized, and go to a pizzeria for a pizza."
We're assuming peeps and chocolate bunnies are out of the question this Sunday, too.
