The Rebellion may not have much going for it at the start of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, but at least they have a blind Wushu master who can pulverize Stormtroopers without even needing a lightsaber.
So yeah: Donnie Yen may be the reason we see this movie. Him, and X-Wings.
We don't know too much about the movie's plot just yet, and the trailer isn't giving much away. Note to Hollywood: This is perfectly okay. But from what we saw in the first Rogue One trailer, we know the anthology movie centers on protagonist Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones), a rapscallion-gone-good who joins up with the nascent Rebellion (where have we seen this before, Chewy?) to snag the blueprints for the Death Star. With her is Captain Cassian Andor (Diego Luna), who will have to somehow team up with Yen's character, Chirrut Îmwe, and the marksman Saw Gerrera (Forrest Whitaker) to take down the ascendent Empire led by Director Orson Krennic (Ben Mendelsohn).
We won't spoil who makes a surprise appearance at the end of the trailer, but suffice to say there'll probably be at least one lightsaber in the movie.
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, directed by Godzilla shot-caller Gareth Edwards and starring Jones, Yen, Luna, Whitaker, Mendelsohn, Mads Mikkelsen, Alan Tudyk, and Riz Ahmed, hits lightspeed in theaters on December 16.
