Suicide Squad has been getting plenty of hype as its August 5 premiere date nears—and justifiably so, since it combines an absolute Murderer's Row of talent. Will Smith is straight-up prison ripped to play Deadshot. Former Men's Fitness cover guys Scott Eastwood and Joel Kinnaman are casted very much to type as military-looking hardasses. Jared Leto is unleashing all kinds of crazy as the Joker. And Margot Robbie is going to stir up all kinds of latent fanboy crushes as Harley Quinn.
And even with that kickass cast, the two newly released TV spots for Suicide Squad are notable for two other reasons: the new DC logo, and a brief glimpse of a familiar cape and cowl from the DC universe.
Bottom line: After sitting through DC's carefully wrought, self-serious Man of Steel and Dawn of Justice, it'll be a nice to see DC leverage its oddly lovable rogues gallery. The premis, as stated by government agent Amanda Waller (Viola Davis): send a bunch of supervillains—"the worst of the worst," she says—into a fiery hellscape on an impossible mission that will likely get them all killed.
Now that sounds like fun.
Here's the fourth TV spot:
Suicide Squad, written and directed by David Ayer, and starring Smith, Leto, Kinnaman, Eastwood, Davis, Robbie, and Cara Delevigne, brawls its way into theaters August 5.
