It’s time to boldly go where no man has gone before—and beyond.
Paramount just dropped the second trailer for Star Trek Beyond, and the third installment of the rebooted series looks as action-packed as ever. The crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise—including, of course, Kirk (Chris Pine), Spock (Zachary Quinto), and Bones (Karl Urban)—are excited to head back out into space for a new adventure.
But, as always, something evil is on the rise. When Enterprise takes some devastating hits from Krall (Idris Elba) and his crew of minions, the crew is forced to abandon ship. Uhura (Zoë Saldana) and Sulu (John Cho) seemingly fall into enemy hands, leaving Kirk to come to the rescue. And with the Enterprise wrecked, his rescue vessel of choice happens to be a motorcycle.
The trailer gives the first true good look at the new villain Krall, portrayed with menace by Idris Elba, though he's hardly recognizable underneath his layers of makeup and an intricate suit of armor.

The film was co-written by Simon Pegg, who, in his reprise as the irrepressible Scotty, provides some trademark comedic levity in the face of the crew's greatest threat yet.
Star Trek Beyond, directed by Fast & Furious veteran Justin Lin and starring Pine, Pegg, Quinto, Cho, Saldana, and Elba, warps into theaters on July 22, 2016.
