In 2017, Gal Gadot was a wonder. The superstar actress starred in both Wonder Woman and Justice League, giving her a massive box office total for the year. While Justice League underperformed for critics and at the box office, Wonder Woman was a winner on both fronts, getting some of the best reviews of any superhero film released in the past decade and making more than $820 million worldwide.
4. Emma Watson - $1.3 billion
No stranger to starring in massive tentpole films (raise your hand if you haven't seen a movie from the Harry Potter series), Emma Watson helped lead Beauty and the Beast to a massive world box office total. While that took up the bulk of her box office haul, Watson also starred alongside John Boyega and Tom Hanks in The Circle.
5. Johnny Depp - $1.1 billion
Even though sales were lacking compared to its predecessors, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales still did pretty well, earning almost $800 million worldwide. Depp made it into the top five with the addition of Murder on the Orient Express to his Pirates of the Caribbean box office total.
6. Daisy Ridley - $1.08 billion
Starring in two major studio films helped rising star Daisy Ridley leap into the top 10. Ridley jumped in for the major haul of Star Wars: The Last Jedi and the solid worldwide performance of Murder on the Orient Express.
7. Tom Holland - $888 million
Tom Holland helped bring Spider-Man into the Marvel Cinematic Universe with Captain America: Civil War in 2016, but he got his own solo adventure in 2017. Spider-Man: Homecoming became one of Marvel's best-reviewed MCU films, and set up Spidey for another generation of fans, thanks in no small part to Holland's sophomoric charm. Keep an eye out for Holland's Spider-Man in 2018 in the highly anticipated Avengers: Infinity War.
The third time was the charm for Chris Hemsworth when it came to the Thor series. While Thor and Thor: The Dark World were both fine and successful films for Marvel, neither reached the heights of the creatively high-octane, fun-filled Thor: Ragnarok. Hemsworth got to show off his comedic chops in the Taika Waititi-directed film, teaming up with Hulk/Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo) in one of Marvel’s best movies to date. Hemsworth will be back as Thor in 2018 in Avengers: Infinity War.
10. John Boyega - $815 million
Star Wars helped John Boyega slip into the top 10 of this list. The Last Jedi has made $800 million globally and is still going, but it also helped Boyega that he starred in two other films this year: Detroit and The Circle. In 2018, Boyega has another big film coming: Pacific Rim: Uprisingalongside Scott Eastwood.
