Move over Avengers—New York City has a new superhero team.
Netflix released the first trailer for The Defenders, bringing together the heroes—Matt Murdock a.k.a. Daredevil (Charlie Cox), Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), Luke Cage (Mike Colter, who spoke to Men's Fitness about his superhero-level training), and Danny Rand a.k.a. Iron Fist (Finn Jones)—of their four solo shows for a mega team-up event. And it looks fantastic.
The heroes each navigate their own pockets of New York City, but when a major threat appears in the mysterious Alexandra (Sigourney Weaver), the four must come together to save the city. If you’ve watched any of the Netflix shows (especially Daredevil), you know what that means: hallway fights.
This time around, it’s absolutely epic:
While the Avengers and the Guardians of the Galaxy teams have dominated the Marvel universe on the big screen, the Defenders now have their own real estate on the small (streaming) screen. Will the major teams—including Men's Fitness cover star Chris Pratt's Star-Lord—ever interact with the Defenders on Netflix, or possibly on the silver screen in Avengers: Infinity War?
Only time will tell. But, either way, there will be hallway fights.
The Defenders hits Netflix on August 18, 2017.
