Yesterday/today, Spotify announced a few new features to its heavily favored music streaming platform. Primarily the “Now” page, as they call it, which curates playlists based on your mood, time of day, and what you like. They’ve also added podcasts, shows and clips to their content offerings. Their partners include ESPN, NBCUniversal, Condé Nast, and Slate.
But of note: Spotify just announced the Spotify Running component to its app, which tunes your music playlist to your running tempo. This includes not only your favorite workout songs, but tailor-made running tunes composed by DJs. They’re also partnering with Nike to integrate with the Nike+ app.
This all sounds oddly similar to the Adidas Go app, where Spotify partnered with Adidas to make a running app that matches your music to your tempo.
These kinds of apps are really beginning to pop up. We’ve already covered an app that matches music to your heart beat. But Spotify has a lot of customers, and this might be the predominant music-matching app out there soon.
