Earlier this month, Brian Johnson—better known as his online persona, the Liver King—opened up about a recent health scare.

Johnson has over two million followers on Instagram, where he shares workouts, daily meals, and other personal pieces of his life. His moniker comes from his claim that he eats roughly a pound of raw liver each day.

The Liver King shared the multiple ailments he's facing, including a mass in his colon, twisted kidney, necrotic fold, large “fatty” liver, and a 25-pound weight loss in an Instagram post on December 10.

"Been feeling like shit, 'losing lightning' since Mid October. Turns out I created a perfect storm: anemic af, crashed thyroid (so clever I am), gut mortality, and general subprimal energy," Johnson wrote in his caption.

Johnson launched his personal brand in 2021, but quickly amassed a large and loyal social media following, crediting his shredded build to his ancestral lifestyle.

Since then, many skeptics have called his bluff, including Derek of More Plates More Dates, who exposed his steroid usage in a leaked email. Nicholas Gibbs and Timothy Piatkowski also published a piece in 2023 in the International Journal of Drug Policy, discussing the harmful impact of online figures hiding their use of performance-enhancing drugs.

Johnson also shared what he's been doing as an attempt to ease his ailments. His routine includes biweekly gut massages, daily IVs while practicing hyperbaric oxygen therapy, fasting, breathwork, red light therapy, walking and in-place jumping, and sunning.

Throughout the video, Johnson performs banded exercises while jumping up and down. He shares with his fans that due to his major health scare, he's been using bands rather than lifting loads.

Still, many have speculated that Johnson’s health issues may be linked to his use of performance-enhancing drugs. These  carry significant risks, including liver damage, hormonal imbalances, cardiovascular strain, and kidney dysfunction.
