This is some Hall of Fame-level pranking.
Chicago Cubs star Kris Bryant showed up to a Las Vegas baseball field under the impression he would simply be shooting a batting practice video. Instead, he got punked by one of the greatest pitchers of all time.
Bryant takes the whole thing seriously at first, speaking about how Las Vegas is a “good baseball town” and the great talents that have come out of the city, including Bryce Harper, Chasen Shreve, and yes, Greg Maddux. (It's also Bryant's home base when he's not in Chicago.)
The reigning NL MVP starts off batting practice as "Sound Guy"—actually Maddux in disguise—records the session and comments on Bryant’s hitting. When the pitcher throwing the session gets a call and has to leave, the “Sound Guy” starts to throw instead.
After a few pitches, Bryant realizes, "the Sound Guy’s got a good curveball." Eventually, Maddux reveals himself when he asks for Bryant’s autograph on the bat and tells him to sign it with “Greg Maddux” as the name:
Bryant can’t help but start laughing with the Hall of Fame pitcher and former Cub: “You guys got me.”
The Cubs star is no stranger to pranks, though. In 2016, Bryant pranked the Mesa Community College baseball team by posing as a transfer student and putting on a powerful hitting display. During his rookie season, Bryant went undercover and posed a Lyft driver, fooling his pickups.
This time, the cleat was on the other foot for Bryant.
